Shimmering Sugarplum

Hey, Everyone!

For today's makeup look, I created a soft and smoky "Sugarplum" inspired look.  I wanted something colorful and flirty- something perfect for a night out or a Holiday party.

I created this look using mostly shadows from Aromaleigh Mineral Cosmetics.  I really love the depth and dimension that these shadows have, and the shades are gorgeous.

Let's see how it turned out!

♥ Aromaleigh Shadow in Kraneia (deep brown/violet duochrome) to outer corner, crease,

BIG Eyes and Aromaleigh Eye Shadows

Hey, Everyone!

As many of you know, I am currently working on a local production of the Broadway musical Hairspray. I'm doing the makeup for my SUPER GREAT friend, Jere Van Patten who is starring in the lead role as Edna Turnblad.  It's such a blast!  This is a great show with so much talent; I'm happy to be a part of it. :) If you follow me on Instagram, you will see a few snaps from backstage. :)  We still have a few more shows to go! I will post more about this later, so stay tuned!

For this week's makeup look, I wanted to play with some beautiful shadows I received from Aromaleigh Cosmetics.  When I first visited the company website I was really intrigued.  The colors and the creativity are incredible.  For this look I wanted BIG eyes, with dreamy FANTASY colors, so these shadows are perfect!

I paired that concept with a fun pair of lashes and some GIANT circle lenses.
I did this at about.... two o'clock in the morning, and I'm surprised I look as ALERT as I do.
I might post the BEFORE picture if I get brave!

Here is the look!

My New Obsession: Duochrome Shadows

Hey, Everybody!

I know it has been forever since I've posted a blog post!  I have been super busy (that is a good thing) and my blog got a little lonely over here. :(

Well I am back! And I am really excited about this post because it has me starting a new makeup obsession: Duochrome shadows!  Duochrome shadows are basically colors that shift into another shade, depending upon how you apply them.  They can be worn wet, dry, or over a dark or light base. You decide how you want to wear them and how intensely you want the color shift.

Duochrome shadows are not new.  Nope.  They've been around for a while.  Why am I so interested in them at the moment?  BECAUSE THEY ARE GORGEOUS!  It's like being sprinkled in magical fairy dust! :)  It's just what I am in the mood for!

Before I get into the look, I will tell you that I got this shadow on Etsy (I love to support handmade cosmetics!).  This particular shadow came from Russia, and although it is gorgeous, the shipping took a really long time and it was rather pricey.  Having said that... I am glad I made the purchase, and let's check it out!

As you can see, this shadow has a light purple base with a TURQUOISE interference.  When worn over a light base, the purple is more apparent.  When worn over a black base, the turquoise is the dominant color.  The twinkle on this shadow is amazing and a bit tricky to photograph.  But trust me, it's there! :)

For this look, I used Nyx Jumbo pencil in Yogurt (shimmery pinky-beige) as my base. So the purple was more obvious, but the green still lightly popped out.  It is an eye catching color!!

Let me tell you about the rest of the look!

EYES:

♥ UDPP
♥ Nyx Jumbo Pencil in Yogurt to lid and lower lash line
♥ Nyx Shadow in Immaculate (matte vanilla shade) from brow to crease
♥ Sigil Inspired Duochrome Shadow in Fairy Dragonfly Pond Spirit to lid, and lower lash line
♥ Urban Decay Shadow in Factory (plum brown) to crease
♥ Urban Decay Shadow in Burnout (soft shimmery pink) above crease
♥ Urban Decay Shadow in Blackheart (plum black) to our V and crease
♥ Black eyeliner to lash and waterline
♥ Black Mascara
♥ Red cherry Lashes in 217's

FOUNDATION & BLUSH:

♥ Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in 120
♥ Maybelline Pressed Powder in Cameo
♥ Ulta Blush in Adore

LIPS:

♥ Nyx Round Lipstick in Ceto
♥ Nyx Round Lipgloss in Whipped

There you have it!  A fun way to wear daring shadow.  This might even be daytime wearable for some of us :)

Since this is my new current obsession, don't be alarmed if you see more duochromes popping up on Vanity and Vodka ☺

Do you have a favorite duochrome??  Please let me know so I know where to shop next! ☺

Sleek Makeup: Arabian Nights Eyeshadow Palette

Hey, Everyone!

So I took a bit of an unplanned hiatus, and I am happy to say that I am finally back with a new blog post!  While things have been rather busy for me, I still have had plenty of opportunity to shop and stash away new makeup!  I have learned that I can accumulate new makeup much faster than I can blog about it :(

So I'd better get going!

Today's blog post features an absolutely stunning collection of shadows by Sleek Makeup.  I picked up the Arabian Nights palette, and it has some beautiful shades if you are wanting to create a shimmery, sultry, colorful smoky eye.  You can also go a bit dramatic and neutral with it as well, which is what I wanted to do for this look today.
I used a gold shadow on the lid, and blended it in to a blue, then used a gorgeous black on the outer edge.
I gently blended the colors, and used a soft bronze shadow as my transition color in the crease.

Let's see what I came up with!  I hope you like it!

Magenta Smoke

Hey, Everyone!

I am excited about today's post because it's a soft and sexy makeup look that is very easy to do.
It is extremely wearable, but has a touch of drama and a pop of color that give it some flare.

I concentrated most of the color on the outer corner of my lid to give it a contoured cat eye shape.
For this look, the colors were blended gently, so the shadows diffuse softly into one another.
I paired this look with a strong pair of lashes, and I LOVE how it turned out!

Check it out!

EYES:

♥ UDPP
♥ Nyx Jumbo Pencil in Milk to lid
♥ Nyx Shadow in Immaculate (matte vanilla) from brow to crease
♥ Nyx Shadow in Pixie (shimmery champagne) to inner corner and lid
Sugarpill Pressed Powder in Soot & Stars (deep sparkly charcoal)  to outer V, blended well.
I also used this color to line the outer edge of my lower lash line.
Sugarpill Loose Shadow in Magentric (shimmery magenta) as transition color, just buffed gently over the outer edge of crease.
♥  Black mascara/ eyeliner
♥ Red Cherry Lashes 605's

FOUNDATION & BLUSH:

♥ Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in 120
♥ Maybelline Pressed Powder in Cameo
♥ Ulta Blush in Adore

It has been a while since I've done a post, and I have been collecting some great makeup to play with, so I'd better get to it!

For today's post I am using one of my favorite Nyx palettes- Love in Paris "Merci Beaucoup".  I love this collection because it has some really beautiful neutrals and a gorgeous rusty shadow that I am drawn to.
It's so sultry!

This palette is super versatile for day to evening looks, and is also very affordable ($10).

Forgotten Makeup: Use What You Have!

Hey, Everyone!

For today's post, I am dipping into my "Forgotten Makeup Collection" and using some eyeshadows that I got a while back but have never used. Using them makes me wonder why I ever forgot about them in the first place!

I know it's fun for me to get the "newest" or the "trendiest" makeup, but sometimes it's more fun to dig up forgotten treasures! I need to do this more often - otherwise you will be seeing me on an episode of "Hoarders", buried in makeup!

The brand of makeup that I used for this look is called Pure Luxe, and the website offers a ton of colors, all cheap and in sample jars.  So if you are looking to build your collection of mineral pigments, this is a good option to try.

Regardless of the brand, the cost, or the trend - be inspired, but USE WHAT YOU LIKE!
(Granted, if the makeup is old/used/in bad shape - toss it for hygienic reasons.☺)

So for this look, I went with a gradient blue lid that transitioned out to a gorgeous neutral plum.
On the lower lid I used a fresh green shade.

I also found my new favorite pair of lashes. ☺

I hope you like it!

EYES:

♥ UDPP
♥ Nyx Jumbo Pencil in Pots and Pans (metallic silver) to lid and lower lash line
♥ Ulta Shadow in Naked (vanilla) from brow to crease

♥ Pure Luxe Shadow in Mirage (shimmery blue/green) to inner corner
♥ Pure Luxe Shadow in Iris (light indigo)
♥ Pure Luxe Shadow in Indigo to outer V and edge of lower lash line
♥ Pure Luxe Shadow in Chocolate Grapes (neutral shimmery plum) to crease
♥ Pure Luxe Shadow in Seashore (fresh green) to lower lash line
♥ Black mascara/ eyeliner
♥ Red Cherry Lashes in 605's.
These monsters are super full at the base, then get wispy towards the ends.
Sexy!

FOUNDATION & BLUSH:

♥ Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in 120 Classic Ivory
♥ Maybelline Fit Me Foundation 355 Coconut for contour
♥ Maybelline Pressed Powder
♥ Ulta Blush in Sun Kissed

LIPS:

♥ Milani Lipstick in Dulce Caramello
♥ Nyx Butter Gloss in Apple Strudel

There you have it!!
I will be playing with more of these shadows in the future ☺
I have quite a few of them ;-)

Do YOU have any awesome makeup that is collecting dust??

Thank you for stopping by! I truly love it when you do!
